I: Job Summary


The VP, Corporate Strategy will lead efforts with the Executive Team to develop and refine long-range corporate strategy and oversee mechanisms to ensure accountability for execution in line with that strategy. Will also be responsible for matrix management and alignment of corporate and business line strategy harmonization. In addition, will provide leadership and incubation for new strategic initiatives that are aligned with corporate strategy but do not fall within a particular business line.


II: Responsibilities 

•    Lead company-wide processes related to long-range objectives, strategic planning and annual corporate operating plan creation
•    Create tools for informing and refreshing the strategic plan
•    Champion corporate strategy across the company with strong communications and training
•    Develop and incubate new business structures and strategic initiatives to drive innovation
•    Devise systems for the effective tracking and management of progress towards long-range strategic objectives
•    Support strategic transaction analysis and activities
•    Lead Executive sponsored corporate initiatives; special projects
III: Education, Experience & Skills
•    Bachelor’s degree required. A higher degree (PhD or MBA) is an advantage.
•    A science background or familiarity with science related work and knowledge of vaccine, drug or device development particularly for public health threats or emerging infectious diseases is an advantage.
•    At least 15 years of relevant experience in industry (biotech/pharma/medtech)
•    At least 5 years of consulting experience is preferred; Strategy focus is an advantage.
•    Proven track record and experience working in a matrixed way with a large number of internal stakeholders
•    Sound knowledge of relevant industries and ecosystems
•    Creativity of approach and willingness to explore novel solutions
•    Excellent communication skills, presents information clearly and effectively
•    Confident in dealing with all people at all levels up to and including the Board of Directors
