Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Scientist, Analytical Sciences & Technology (AS&T) for our Winnipeg location. A Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or related field is preferred; an equivalent level of education, skills, and 5 years of experience will be considered. Must have a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices have the demonstrated ability to conduct problem solving and analysis of data to derive conclusions and deliver guidance. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

The Scientist, Analytical Sciences & Technology (AS&T) role is a member of the Manufacturing Sciences & Technology (MS&T) department that provides technical expertise and support to Quality Control. As such, this role is responsible for supporting and conducting tech transfer and validation of new assays into the site, troubleshooting non-conformances, and optimizing existing assays in the pursuit of operational excellence.



  • Supports the tech transfer and validation of new assays.
  • Prepare analytical method validation/verification protocols and reports.
  • Support execution of method validation protocols as required.
  • Leads the resolution of Quality Control testing concerns including troubleshooting non-conformances, investigations, and data review.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements improvements to equipment, techniques, materials, and processes.
  • Authors documentation and standard operating procedure creation and revisions.
  • Conducts statistical process control by completing routine data trending and root cause analysis.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) for quality investigations of Quality Control testing related deviations.
  • Participates in Gemba walks by identifying, recommending, and implementing improvements to equipment, techniques, materials, and processes as required.
  • Facilitates cross-functional brainstorming sessions to direct the flow of information and ensure all avenues are explored.
  • Evaluate and transfer of process development recommendations into operations.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Chemistry or related field is preferred; an equivalent level of education, skills, and experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of related experience required.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct problem solving and analysis of data to derive conclusions and deliver guidance.
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools such as lean manufacturing, 6S, 8 wastes, Gemba walks, tiered meetings, etc.
  • Ability to apply knowledge, innovation, and a continuous improvement focus to activities.
  • Ability to work independently, while maintaining positive, collaborative relationships cross-functionally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.



  • Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
