Automation Administration Engineer

JOB SUMMARY 

The Automation Administration Engineer will report to Automation Management. Major duties to include administrative functions for the site process equipment and manufacturing network. Responsibilities will include User Account Management, Alarm Notification Management, Patch Management, and maintenance of site architecture diagrams. Will be responsible to provide updates in cross functional team meetings.

The following routine functions are responsibilities of the incumbent in association with systems contained within the manufacturing network.
•    Maintain basic understanding of the manufacturing equipment, processes, and associated process automation.
•    Develop/maintain an integrated site network architecture diagram.
•    Function as interface between site Process Automation and IT support/ network infrastructure

  • Project scheduling
  • Outage support
  • Process and Systems upgrades
  • Upgrades to legacy systems

•    User Account Management

  • Develop and maintain an automated user request system
  • Add, remove, or update user account information, resetting passwords, etc.
  • Develop and maintain ability to generate user access reports on all site systems
  • Routine review of user groups
  • Work with Automation Engineers to apply active directory to various systems

•    Alarm Notification Management

  • Develop and maintain lists of site alarms and notifications
  • Add, remove, or update alarm notifications
  • Routine review of notification user groups
  • Add, remove, or update notification user groups

•    Patch Management

  • Create and maintain a site patch management system
  • Integrate patch management into site quality systems
  • Develop and maintain a patch management schedule 
  • Assess, develop test plan, system updates, patches, and configuration changes as needed.

•    System Performance

  • Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with CGMP compliant systems (process equipment, SCADA system, Plant control and monitoring systems).
  • Monitoring the process for system software back up and address issues as needed.
  • Monitor system disk space and memory allocation 

•    Work with IT to Install and configure new hardware and software for systems within the manufacturing network.
•    Manage/maintain IP addresses for equipment. Work with automation/IT teams to assign, configure and test systems for communication.
•    Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and PLC Programming using Rockwell Automation Tools and Allen Bradley Controls
•    Understanding of electrical and controls system design solutions based on Engineering Principles in Wonderware System Platform
•    Assist/create and implement Automation specification, User Requirements Specification, Functional Specification, Test Protocols, change controls and deviations based on GMP Standards as assigned.
•    Assist with documenting system configurations based on process specific configurations.
•    System performance tuning.
•    Ensuring that the network infrastructure is performing as expected, including routine monitoring, verification of system backups.
•    Configuring, adding, and deleting file systems as required in accordance with site quality guidelines.
•    Provide basic user access training.
•    Respond as required to site issues including, nights, weekend and/or Holidays.
•    Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
•    5-10 yrs. experience managing network infrastructure in a CGMP environment
•    Bachelor’s degree in an associated field (Engineering, Process Automation, Network Systems Administration, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, etc.)
