I: Job Summary  

The Program Manager, Operational Excellence supports the development and deployment of the site OE strategy. This individual works with a broad range of Emergent leadership, management, staff and stakeholders to drive process improvement, the development of Emergent OE capabilities, and support efforts dedicated to Emergent’s OE/Lean business and cultural transformation. This individual works with a broad range of MfgOps site staff, supervisors and leadership to evaluate MfgOps-related operations; identify and prioritize areas of improvement; lead/drive operations reliability; and build sustainable tiered meeting structures and accountabilities. The effectiveness of these efforts is measured in terms of (a) overall trend improvement in key plant KPIs related to schedule performance and first-time-right execution, and (b) staff engagement in continuous improvement and bottom-to-top ownership of plant value stream performance.

This is a full-time on-site role with the expectation to spend the majority of the practitioner’s time leading plant performance-enhancing activities through direct interactions with plant staff in the physical areas where work is performed.

II: Responsibilities 
•    Develops, facilitates and delivers a continuous pipeline of plant value stream improvement Kaizen events using standard and appropriate OE methodologies such as DMAIC, assuring the success of on-going and sustainable improvements
•    Leads and drives OE-related practices and interventions, in particular those associated with Tier 1-3 meeting effectiveness, problem-solving, waste reduction and first-time-right execution.
•    Design and deploy sustainable systems for tracking and reporting of results from Operational Excellence activities, including progress to plan and financial impacts.
•    Introduces, facilitates, train and assures sustainability of 6S practices across all physical workspaces.
•    Execute communication strategy in support of the site’s Operational Excellence culture.
•    Act as a coach mentor on Lean Continuous Improvement culture, techniques and best practices.
•    Execute communication strategy in support of the site’s Operational Excellence culture.
•    Act as a change agent promoting excellence and innovative thinking with employees at all levels of the organization.
•    Works with functional leaders in the planning and deployment of events and activities in support of the site Hoshin Lean Strategy Deployment plan.
•    Monitors implementation and sustainment activities to ensure that projects and action items are completed as planned, and planned objectives achieved.
•    Design and deploy sustainable systems for tracking and reporting of results from Operational Excellence activities including progress to plan and financial impacts.
•    Support peers at other sites in Operational Excellence deployment, and the harmonization of Operational Excellence systems across sites.

III: Education, Experience & Skills
•    Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or technical degree with demonstrated practical experience with Lean fundamentals and Lean Strategy deployment. Equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience considered.
•    3 to 5 years’ experience in deploying or managing projects in a regulated environment such as cGMP.
Performance Skills:
•    Strong facilitation and presentation skills;
•    Strong written and oral communication skills;
•    Demonstrated skill and experience in problem solving and analysis;
•    Solid knowledge of lean concepts and tools.
•    Ability to produce results through influential authority;
•    Ability to read and understand a P&L statement.
•    Strong interpersonal coaching skills.
•    Strong skills in adapting lean tools to suit operational requirements.
