I. JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the site General Manager, the Director, Client Portfolio & Relationship Management is responsible for a team of individuals, each of whom serves as the primary operations, portfolio, and business management point of contact from the site for an assigned portfolio of clients, and the Contract Development and Manufacturing operations (CDMO) Business Unit Commercial Operations leader. This role and its team members assure appropriate levels of site engagement with Clients, including but not limited to site operations and management clarity; attention to client inquiries, product portfolio and production plans; and service the site is expected to supply. The role assures an appropriate, orchestrated client engagement model is effectively in place which includes description of client management governance, agreements on routine operational communications / meetings, and periodic performance management discussions and business reviews. The role is a vital part of business and operational planning at the site and works to assure current and anticipated client demands can be met. The person in this role integrates their understanding and knowledge of Client business plans and forecasts by collaborating with site Supply Chain leadership on matters of capacity and production planning. This role works with CDMO Commercial Ops to understand each Clients view of the site as their CDMO, shares clients’ views of the performance with site leadership, and advises on focus areas to enhance client satisfaction and business growth. Collaboration including key point of escalation to site and business leadership as business and client matters warrant, and assuring associated actions are addressed. In addition to site Supply Chain leadership, this role is highly engaged and collaborates extensively with leaders of CDMO Commercial Operations, Quality Client Services, and MSAT Technical Product Leaders.
II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Leads the Client Portfolio & Relationship Management team which serves as the primary site operations point of contact to the client (internal and external).
• Assures appropriate levels of engagement with clients, including but not limited to site operations and management clarity; attention to client inquiries, product portfolio and production plans; and service the site is expected to supply.
• Assures orchestrated client engagement models are established, which includes description of client management governance, agreements on routine operational communications / meetings, and periodic performance management discussions and business reviews
• Establishes, aligns, and executes (as required) agreed guidance around client communications, associated with routine engagement, messaging, escalation, and notification, including:
o Provides direction to immediate team and relevant site functions regarding appropriate and expected communications with clients (e.g. includes but is not limited to site and production data)
o Establishes, manages, and executes appropriate escalation for client matters within teams, functions, site leadership and the CDMO BU.
• Acts as primary liaison with the CDMO Commercial Operations team; the leader in this role connects Client Portfolio & Relationship Management activity across site functions and with CDMO BU to assures timely information sharing.
• Drives Client Portfolio & Relationship Management team to assure service, attention to client inquires, escalation and needs for existing business
• Champions operational engagement and provides leadership to team towards establishment and execution of highly effective routines, tools, templates, and associated guidance for business meeting preparation, setting agendas, and associated standard work which would aid client engagement experience.
• Provides clear guidance, direction to teams in preparation and execution of business and performance management discussions
• Assures well-orchestrated process for development of client visit schedules, including person in plant (PIP) visits, audits, and business reviews, as example.
• Leads the team in the safe and compliant execution of their activities.
• Ensures employee development, training, consistency, and manages distribution of workload as necessary.
• Develops and coaches direct reports to achieve goals based on agreed objectives and results by optimizing resources and building team effectiveness.
• Collaborate and communicate with other functional areas to promote understanding and achieve strategic objectives.
• Manages the development of these employees, recognizes contributions, mitigates conflict and communication problems, plans, and facilitates team meetings, using a skills-based approach to select team members for DR resolution, and motivates members
• Promptly notifies line management & Quality leadership of potential issues or problems.
• Conducts interviews, performance reviews, develops, and administers enhancement plans, follows-up on employee issues, and conducts employee exits with HR if necessary.
• Shares best practices across functional units.
• Oversees the training, qualification, and requalification of employees.

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
• B.S / B.A. degree in Project Management, Business or a related pharmaceutical sciences field or equivalent experience in regulated industry; M.B.A. preferred
• 8 years cGMP experience in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, ideally pre-clinical phases through commercial, and / or equivalent amount of experience managing commercial operations or client portfolio management roles.
• Intimate understanding of business and operational planning, forecasting and impact of demand planning on biotech, pharmaceutical or bio-pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
• 5-7 years’ experience and strength in planning, orchestrating, and managing business critical relationships between providers / suppliers and clients.
• 5 years of experience working with FDA/ EU and participating in regulatory agency inspections preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and collaborative / facilitative skills across multiple functions, across internal business enterprise, and externally with large number of clients
• Role-modeling communication skills, oral and written
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting with minimal supervision
• Ability to make sound decisions regarding compliance-related issues with minimal supervision
• Strong Leadership, high level of personal/departmental accountability and responsibility
