Sr. Manager, Engineering

The Sr. Manager, Engineering executes process design engineering activities for site capital and operational improvement projects within the Engineering and Facilities team in Canton. This position is requires the participation in development of concept, design and fabrication, commissioning and qualification of process systems in a GMP environment. This position is also a participant with the Manufacturing Technology team in the development and / or technology transfer of new solutions and modifications to our existing manufacturing process systems while adhering to established regulatory compliance requirements. The incumbent is responsible for developing appropriate solutions to satisfy the needs of internal customers in accordance with company guidelines and procedures, and within budget and schedule commitments.

Responsible for providing engineering to several multiple projects and assisting on production floor simultaneously. Responsible for determining how user requirements and quality requirements will be satisfied within the design solution. Team responsibilities and assignments may be required depending on project complexity and/or technical engineering role within project teams at the Canton site
This position has departmental budgetary responsibilities.
This position is acting chair of the Site Capital Committee managing the Canton Annual and Long Range CapEx budget.

The Deputy Director Engineering, position manages the internal engineering team. In addition, this position may also manage contract engineers, and engineering service providers depending on the current projects and workloads.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • Minimum B.S., Biochemical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 7 or more years of experience in applied process design engineering relating to biological production. Extensive knowledge of GMP requirements and commissioning and qualification required. Formal training in fermentation/bioreactors and/or typical separation and purification technology applications in biologicals manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Individual with experience must have knowledge of unit operations typically used in biotech and vaccine manufacturing such as bulk manufacturing, downstream operations, formulation, steaming (SIP) and cleaning (CIP).
  • Ability to effectively communicate, interact and collaborate with internal and external team members is essential. This position requires strong analytical skills (ability to apply engineering principles to design), hands-on troubleshooting skills and the capability to utilize AutoCAD, analysis software and company quality system software.
