JOB SUMMARY
Excited to grow your career? The successful candidate will be a key member of the Business Operations team supporting the Science & Development (S&D) Project Management & Business Operations Group. The Senior Project Manager will independently lead and oversee S&D business operations and strategy focused projects, financial planning, communications, and reporting. The S&D continuous improvement project initiatives will vary from defining and implementing new ways of working, building / refining systems and processes, to developing trainings and other business-related projects for the S&D organization. The Senior Project Manager will own the strategy and be responsible for controlling activities of assigned projects, gather insights and direction from customers on requirements, and facilitate participation from cross-functional project team members. This role will interact with both S&D and cross-functional Senior Leadership and will require effective communication and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player as projects will require collaboration across the S&D Project Management Office and Emergent Enterprise.
Additionally, the Senior Project Manager will have the opportunity to help/mentor other members of the Business Operations team.

S&D Business Projects
• Independently lead and manage multiple complex S&D business initiatives and projects, with cross functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Develop project plans with input from all required stakeholders.
• With project team, create, manage, and maintain project deliverables, and monitor performance against the approved project plan.
• Identify, report and document changes to the project scope that can impact project performance.
• Lead effective and action-oriented meetings by engaging with stakeholders, anticipating and mitigating risks, facilitating key discussions, taking minutes, tracking action items, and following up with stakeholders when needed.
• Provide updates on the status of projects to leadership.
S&D Routine Operations
• Build strategies, tools, templates, trainings, and roadmaps.
• Responsible for the compilation and reviews of internal S&D reports
• Draft work instructions and/or standard operating procedures for business processes
• Support the management of S&D SharePoint/Teams sites as needed.
• Manage vendors as needed (e.g., purchase orders, invoices, contracts, & plans)
• Lead the development of a proposal when needed (e.g., drafting and compiling information for a business, technical proposal, and scope of work).
• Support the Director to manage and monitor the S&D portfolio budgets and/or revenues, including reforecasting and variance reporting. Support the 5 year and annual budget planning as needed.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of post-secondary education, preferably in Business or Science related fields. MA or higher is ideal.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a project management role. Transferable experience leading/coordinating departmental / business projects or cross functional initiations will be considered.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology Industries is an asset.
• Experience working with common software applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint/Teams, Visio and Smartsheet.
• Experience with LEAN, Systems thinking, Process Mapping, Hoshin planning, and other business planning and improvement initiatives is a plus.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, combined with strong written and presentation skills, and the ability to negotiate and positively influence peers in multiple disciplines are requirements.
• Must be results oriented, flexible, demonstrate a significant level of initiative, and be able to comprehend detailed and complex technical, financial, and contractual issues.
