Job Summary 

 

The Manager, Filling, Packaging & Inspection oversees Emergent Winnipeg’s filling and ILP departments, as well as the manufacturing of RSDL/ISDTL products. This role ensures that all filled and packaged products meet quality, regulatory, sales, and profitability standards. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with a proven ability to motivate and empower teams to achieve operational excellence.

•    Champion a culture of operational excellence by mentoring and empowering teams to deliver high-quality, compliant, and efficient manufacturing and packaging operations.
•    Provide strategic direction and oversight for daily operations across filling, inspection, labeling, and packaging, ensuring alignment with production schedules and business objectives.
•    Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of SOPs and work instructions to optimize performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
•    Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely execution of RSDL/ISDTL manufacturing and ILP activities, meeting all quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
•    Oversee the execution of validation protocols and ensure all manufacturing and packaging processes meet internal and external compliance standards.
•    Ensure timely review and approval of batch records, logs, and documentation, maintaining data integrity and audit readiness.
•    Lead the execution of QMS activities, including CAPAs, deviations, and change controls, ensuring timely resolution and sustainable improvements.
•    Support regulatory and client audits, representing the department with professionalism and a deep understanding of operational and compliance requirements.
•    Develop and manage departmental budgets, resource planning, and procurement activities to support operational goals and cost efficiency.
•    Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development to direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
•    Contribute to strategic planning initiatives, identifying opportunities for innovation, process optimization, and long-term capability building.
•    The ability to be available for off shift calls is required.
•    Successful completion of our security clearance is required.

Education, Experience & Skills
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, or a related field is required (BSc).
•    Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in pharmaceutical or manufacturing, environment
•    Strong knowledge of cGMP, regulatory compliance, and quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
•    Proven experience managing filling, packaging, or ILP operations in a regulated industry is preferred
•    Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
•    Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
•    Experience with validation, batch record review, and regulatory audits is preferred.
•    Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
