Job Summary
The Quality Control Trainer, Laboratory Services is responsible for delivering consistent and comprehensive training to QC Analysts across multiple labs. This includes hands-on instruction in analytical techniques, ensuring alignment with cGMP and regulatory standards, and assessing prior competencies based on education or experience. The role ensures uniformity in training, promotes knowledge continuity, and supports analyst development.
Responsibilities
· Develop and implement training programs for onboarding, technical skills, and GMP compliance.
· Conduct hands-on training in analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, dissolution, titration).
· Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback and support.
· Ensure training aligns with cGMP, FDA, Health Canada, ICH, and internal quality standards.
· Serve as SME in laboratory test methods and troubleshooting.
· Develop and maintain training plans across all QC labs.
· Assist with onboarding and mentoring of new analysts.
· Identify and implement improvements in QC procedures and documentation.
· Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues and manage projects.
· Independently manage cross-functional projects and guide decision-making.
Technical Expertise
· Advanced proficiency in analytical, biological, and compendial methodologies.
· Experience with chromatography (liquid, gas, SFC, ion) and spectroscopy (UV, IR, Raman).
· Proficiency in wet lab techniques (e.g., Karl Fisher, viscosity, osmolality).
· Microbiological and viral testing (e.g., endotoxin, sterility, microbial counts).
· Molecular biology techniques (e.g., DNA extraction, qPCR, ELISA, cell culture).
Education, Experience & Skills
· University degree or diploma in chemistry, biology, microbiology, or related field.
· 3–5 years of experience in a scientific field with training or supervisory responsibilities.
· 6+ years of lab testing experience; pharmaceutical cGMP experience is an asset.
· In-depth knowledge of cGMP, GLP, and regulatory requirements.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
· Experience with global pharmacopeial testing (USP, EP, JP).
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and ability to work independently.
· Competent in lab safety and documentation practices.
· Ability to interpret analytical data and contribute to investigations.
· Flexible to work various shifts in a 24/5 lab environment.
· This role requires successful completion of a pre- employment medical.
