SCIENTIST, PRECLINICAL

 

Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Scientist for our Preclinical Department. The successful candidate will possess a MS, DVM/ Ph. D/ MD degree in science, preferably bioscience (e.g. Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biology), have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience and have experience in the document preparation for regulatory submission including eCTD summaries, IND/CTA. Must have Strong interpersonal, analytical and decision-making skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong knowledge of pharmaceutical/biological industry pertaining to drug development, manufacturing and licensure. In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Responsible for design, development, execution and implementation of preclinical development projects in collaboration with others in support of product development. In this position the scientist investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to determine the pharmacodymanic, pharmacokinetic and safety of the products in animal models.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Support strategic operational planning and prioritization of initiatives that lead to new preclinical product development
  • Evaluate ideas/models relevant to pre-clinical development based on information gained from a variety of scientific/technical resources
  • Interact with scientific experts in the field for the development of preclinical programs
  • Interact with Biostatisticians in designing studies and analysis of data
  • Assist with the integration of initiatives with other internal/external experts in the field and communicate the initiatives with management.
  • Ensure preclinical programs support clinical development and successfully meet regulatory requirements
  • Compile research proposal, protocol, study  reports for ongoing and or new projects
  • Design and execution of animal studies for safety, toxicity and efficacy evaluation of lead compounds
  • Prepare preclinical plans, protocols, study results, and study reports for submission to various regulatory authorities
  • Coordinate outsourced studies to assure timely completion of preclinical programs.
  • Assists with grant proposals/regulatory submissions

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

 

  • MS, DVM/ Ph. D/ MD degree in science, preferably bioscience (e.g. Pharmacology, Toxicology, Biology)
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in the areas of animal disease models/toxicology/pharmacology.
  • Experience in the document preparations for regulatory submission including eCTD summaries, IND/CTA.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and decision-making skills are a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in GLP regulations, regulatory guidance pertaining to nonclinical toxicology/pharmacology.
  • Applicants should possess strong knowledge of pharmaceutical/biological industry pertaining to drug development, manufacturing and licensure.
  • Working knowledge of word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel) and project management (MS Project) software will be considered advantageous.
  • Areas of in-depth knowledge will preferably include Pharmacology/Pharmacokinetics and Toxicology.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
  • Successful Completion of a Criminal Record Check.
