Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Supervisor of Packaging for our Winnipeg facility. The successful candidate will preferably have a bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or in another related field, grade 12 diploma or equivalent and previous leadership is required. Must have a strong technical background in pharmaceutical manufacturing, accuracy, good communication skills, ability to learn new concepts and the ability to follow written procedures and oral instructions.  In addition, this individual will possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence and innovation.

The Supervisor, Packaging supports the packaging and inspection department in achievement of operational goals, pre-defined operational metrics, execution, and schedule adherence through leading and supervising a team of employees. The incumbent acts as a lead person in the packaging and inspection department, assisting the manager, as required, with implementation and communication of outcomes from departmental strategic planning.




  • Leads team activities including supervision of direct reports, scheduling, assignment of tasks, and ensuring the production schedule is maintained.
  • Fosters a culture of “right the first time” and is accountable for the quality of packaging and inspection operations; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provides direct supervision over critical activities and assists with process step execution when required.
  • Acts as delegate to the manager to represent the department when required.
  • Facilitates and coordinates training and competency assessments of personnel.
  • Initiates unscheduled work orders as required.
  • Reviews and executes of batch records, logs, and other associated documentation.
  • Ensures timely reporting and documentation of process deviations.
  • Effectively builds and maintains working relationships between packaging and inspection and support departments to complete supporting tasks when required.
  • Provides input to change controls, deviations, corrective actions and procedures.
  • Ensures that site, corporate, and safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Generates and revises work instructions and procedures as required.
  • Runs level 1 tiered meeting with clear communication to manager.
  • Communicates of process improvement initiatives to the manager and production team.

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or related field is preferred.
  • Previous leadership experience is required.
  • Strong technical background in pharmaceutical manufacturing or related field.
  • Accuracy, good communication skills, ability to learn new concepts, ability to follow written procedures and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve technical and production issues. 




  • Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
  • Successful Completion of a Criminal Record Check.
  • Medical assessment required start of employment
